Pizzas at Fat Lulu's

When in New York, grab a slice of New York style pizza. When in Gurgaon, grab a seat at Fat Lulu’s for that slice.

The menu is not too extensive and oddly does not seem to list everything (like soft drinks’ prices). it features an assortment of NYC flavoured names. Choose from The Hudson Garlic Bread, Times Square Onion Rings and the Park Avenue, Manhattan, East Side and Southwestern pizzas among others. The potato wedges are alright and the Spicy Chicken wings are good (no, for some reason they do not have an NYC style prefix to their names).

We loved The Soho pizza topped with Pepperoni, Parma Ham, ground lamb and Italian sausage. But Chelsea with Italian sausage, Pepperoni, mushroom, green bell peppers and onion is a winner too. As is the Greenwich Village (Spicy pepperoni, sundried tomatoes and dry chilli).

Every pizza is thin crust (you can choose your base). Ask for a half Soho-half Chelsea pizza. Or just grab a slice of all the pizzas on the menu! You can even make a pizza with the base and toppings of your choice.

As you wait for the food to arrive, you can admire the enormous fire in the oven in the back of the room. And do some billboard/building-spotting in the giant Times Square print on the wall. The ceilings and wall are warehouse style – rough and unfinished.

The pizza base itself could do with a teeny bit more weight. And the menu could be fine-tuned to have everything in one place! But the criticism cannot be anything but lightweight. Because it really is nice food.

So is it really New York style pizza? An almost yes.
Is it worth a visit? A definite yes!
Will we go there again? Absolutely!
